Techno News – Qualcomm plans to enter the laptop market that has been dominated by Intel. This manufacturer will work with Asus, HP, and Lenovo to launch Windows 10 devices based on ARM architecture. Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that all Windows 10 desktop applications can now be run on 16 million ARM-based devices. The first Qualcomm processor that can run Windows 10 is Snapdragon 835.
HP, Asus, and Lenovo, will create a compact system with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip (SoC). In this SoC will be embedded CPU Kryo 280 CPU, GPU Adreno 540, and mobile data modem X16 LTE. This ARM-based Windows 10-based device is promised to offer judi poker online very thin, light, and fanless devices. However, it can run full versions of Windows desktop applications. But, it remains energy efficient, so the batteries can last longer.
Qualcomm promises its device battery can last 50 percent longer than Intel-based processors. The average can last up to 20 hours. In addition, this ARM-based device also offers a more complete Connected Standby experience. This means the device can be instantly on (instant-on), sync the data that is always connected, and can be used to activate the feature of Cortana active listening during the device is on.
Windows 10 based on ARM is also benefited by the integrated gigabit LTE Snapdragon X16 modem. Thus, users do not need to be bothered when need internet connection. This may be one of the benefits of Windows 10 ARM devices. Therefore, PCs that have 4G connections are not common. Additionally, adding this modem component to the device means adding US $ 50 to US $ 100 (about Rp650 thousand-Rp1.3 million) at the price of the device.
“When you put this all up, you get a next-generation PC,” said Don McGuire, Vice President of Global Product Marketing at Qualcomm, as quoted by Digital Trends.
Through this statement, Qualcomm is currently challenging senior, Intel. Qualcomm thinks his company can provide a better, more portable, and more affordable system that will match Intel’s expensive processors. However, keep in mind that ARM-based processors usually have a performance that is no better.
However, Qualcomm and Microsoft still have not revealed when the Windows 10 ARM device will be available in the market. Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf said that the device will not slide until the fourth quarter of this year, writes The Verge.
